Looks really good. I think you should get yourself 2 brown bullheads. You got anything in the 55 gallon?

Chad

BTW dont get stung by that madtom

I think bullheads would get too big for this setup, considering the adult size of all the tenants. I originally wanted to get a single brown bullhead, but I changed my mind and ordered two madtoms instead to avoid overstocking. One of them was DOA so I've just got the one now.

I've only got four java ferns in the 55 for now (they were cuttings from another refugium), but they're taking their sweet time to grow! I threw a bunch of trumpet snails in there to sift the sand and there's an astounding population of limpets that hitchhiked in on the ferns. No matter how many snails I put in the main tank, I never see any after a day or so. I guess someone likes to snack on them.

I did add two white mystery snails to the main tank and, surisingly, they are still kicking after two months. They have learned not to move at all during the day though, or the sunfish nip at them.

I hope you don't mind but i am going to use your plan and use it but i will change it some and get a post up and going about it.

Was the support necessary or just being overly cautious?

My house was built in 1927 so it has dainty little floor joists. Also, the wall it is up against is an internal wall. Furthermore, the whole thing is only sitting on just one of those cute joists. I could have doubled up that one joist and added a second joist, but it was easier and cheaper to just put in the 2x4 braces. It is very rigid this way.

What a nice stand. Two in one, that is a really neat idea. Thanks for sharing.
