Did you trade the Tapajós in the end ?
I am thinking of getting some if I can find them, What was it for you that made you feel underwhelmed?

I have a jurupari and He is loads of fun to watch, has a great character and I can`t wait to get him some buddies.
i haven't seen the redheads available locally and when I try to ask nobody really knows what they are, plus there are some weird opinions on how to pronounce their name.

(Ta-pa-Zhos - J like french J and the O is like in Boss) Portuguese Speaker here haha

but seriously man, I just watched all the videos, the progression is beautiful and I really like what you have done with the tank. FYI the first video is private

I still have them currently. Too much going on with the holidays being planned out and such. I appreciate the comments on them. Some fish just aren't for some people. I don' really have any reason as to why they.. don't impress me or capture me like the heckelii do.. my wife absolutely loves them though. Their blues on the lower fins are pretty intense and when they are flaring up their cheeks turn a real crispy golden/yellow. They tend to stay at one end of the tank doing not much. I', not sure if it's because the heckelii just roam a lot more, or what. No one is really what I would classify as aggressive, so I don't feel they are stressed or such.. a few have tried to form pairs and done a few spawn dances and dig sites even.

Heckelii have definitely been a hit for me though. They've grown so well and when the light hits them just right it's like their whole body puts on a light show from snout to the end of their top trailer strands. They started off 'ugly' as the wife puts it.. all of them did really, but theyve all aged well I'd say.

I've since changed the substrate to black and really need to get a video update of it. Hopefully I'll get a chance before the new year hits.

Finally had a moment the other morning to take some pics, before kids started waking up. I was never able to remove all of the PFS, which at first irritated the piss out of me, but the look has really grown on me over the last few weeks. They were recently woken up in this pic so some aren't showing their true colors at the time of the photo. When the kids get back to school next week, going to ty and get a quality video done and loaded up.

I think my largest heckelii is about 5.5" now, and when I got them they were about 2" a year ago, if I recall? Memory is fuzzy. I'm sure I posted it some place.

So now I try to decide on going with H. Psittacus or going with 2-3 red sevs + a chocolate or two, after taking out 5~ heckelii.

Save yourself the headache with the psittacus. They are beautiful fish but they are belligerent when they hit adult size and they will get pushy with all your fish. I had to rehome a few of my favorite cichlids when my psittacus finally hit the 10 - 12" mark, and then he ate a few others. In the end, the only fish tough enough to deal with him were my lenticulata pikes and a breeding pair of Atabapo severums.
