I own two xp3s. They are OK but the fluval fx5 is the best large canister for the money in my opinion. Also, one xp3 will have a hard time keeping up with a 125. I have an xp3 on my 33 gallon!

what about an Eheim 2260? or a 2262? ive herd they can run circles around an FX5 in filtration :headbang2 :D

^^^^
Eheims are very nice but their nowhere near cheap. He said it's the best large canister for the MONEY. For the money the FX5 is the best.

well yea but i mean if i you can find a good price for either, although the 2262 isnt what id classify as cheap XD, but i mean the 2260 and the FX5 are relative in price, 2260 is what, 360$ ish, and the retail for an FX5 i think is like 350$ area, probably wrong, just a thought :D

On Ebay or other online places you can get a FX5 for about 225 or 240 shipped. I don't know what suckers buy those retail prices. lol

I also own an Eheim and I'd say they are over rated. They are hard/expensive to find parts for and just don't preform to the point where it's worth the money. They're German, and are just like German cars... Very well engineered and work great when they work, but as they age and if/when something goes wrong, they are a major pain.
Why do you think you can pick up an 80s Porsche for a couple grand? ;)
