Hi All

I need some advice and opinions.:banhim:

I pick up a 5’x22”Dx24”H very soon, I already have a 150g community SA tank. Now looking for an aggressive/personable glassbanging pair in the 125. The tank will have double filtration.

I need advice as to what Cichlids would be suitable. I used to have an Oscar and loved the interaction, but don’t want to go down that road again. Any recommendations?

Also, are there any other fish (not cichlids) that can be kept with an aggressive pair of Cichlids? I have clown loaches in my community tank but would like to relocate them to the 125. Would this be possible with e.g. Jags, Midas, Texas etc?

Thanks.

I had a pair of jags in my 120 gallon and they were fine together.
The male would try and protect his woman and loved flaring up at me and charging the glass. It was quite funny
Id say jags all the way but i bet they"d devour the loaches.

Thanks for the replies, further replies are more then welcome!!

I'm kind of drawing up a list, so far - Jags, Manguense, Red Devils, Festae, Texas - I will have to do some research on these, but would like more names thrown in the hat to compare and contrast, so suggestions are much appreciated please.

I think my main criteria now is owner responsive, like O's but by reputation meaner.

In my 150 the bottom is getting quite crowded with Geo's and clowns. I would like the clowns (about 10, 3-6") in the 125 with a cichlid pair and maybe a few GD's or SD's.

Keep em coming please...

I have six 4-6" CL in with my 13" Dovii and he doesn't try to eat them.

Mean and owner responsive cichids hmmm....Trimac or Midas comes to mind. I used to have a Synspillum that was owner responsive but not really in a mean or aggressive way. Same with a pair of Severum I used to keep.

Oh and your tank measurements sounds like 137 gallons.

Jags are very aggressive and personable and if you wated to try to add the loaches they might allow them to live better then a pair of midas.
But if you like texas blues they would fair the best with tankmates IMO. I just never owned one cause i am a JD lover:D...

gotta go with a pair of festae in that tank
