125g water changes

I think about 20% water change every 10-12 days is fine IF you are not overstocked, which seems that you are with the stock list you have. Having said that I would change 40% every 4 days and clean the mechanical filter once a week and leave the bio media alone and rinse it once a month.

....I just wasn't going to admit that I"ve been doing WC every other day for the last, oh, 2-3 weeks. And I can't just clean one tank....has to be both 125g and 54g. The kids 10g, well, that thing can wait....

Sounds a little like me, this is the third day in a row I have done a 50 gallon water change on my 210. My nitrates were up to 80 a few days ago so I am working on getting them back down to an acceptable level. I plan to test the water again this evening to see if I the tank is back on track.

That Giant Gouramy really keeps me on my toes when it comes to water changes.
