I think it's a bit expensive for a used tank and the stand and canopy appear home made and not the best quality from the pics.

Is the tank close enough to you that you can look at it first to see how the glass looks?

I'd say 300 is a bit steep since the stand and canopy are not only homemade, but unfinished plywood. Also the tank looks like it would need some pretty serious cleaning, hardwater stains can be tough to get off. I bought a used tank (5' tank for 80$) and the hardwater stains refused to come off one side... had to silicone in a 3d background that covers it. If this were me, I'd offer him more like 200$ max

I said ill give you 310 he said no so i said 320 he said yea i dont think I should buy it because i have to buy lights plus build a lid to canopy but thats the only option plus i dont have enough for a new tank so should i pass on this tank

I would recommend passing on the tank. I personally would pay more than $150 for that. In my area I can buy a new 125 for $350.

It's up to you, it's your money and it just depends on how badly you want the tank. I probably would be patient and try to get just a 125/150 tank alone for closer to 100/150$. Then build a simple stand out of 2x4's and paint them it black. All aquarium equipment, I usually buy on ebay for cheap. SunSun is a Chinese brand that makes pretty good equipment for about half the price of the American/mainstream competitors. I got a huge canister filter from them with UV for 80$, and I've got aquaneat LED lights for cheap as well. Results may vary, but I have had good luck with them.
