Hey all, been busy lately. Erm... did I mention I live in singapore? I'd imagine shipping costs would really kill me... :( At least i can just go out there and catch the fish... save some $$$ :naughty:

That and alot of these sites sell overly complex aquariums in terms of filtration. What I'm looking for would be a simple acrylic box. I'll have to build the filter myself since i plan to have a balanced ecology in there.

By the way, latest quote SG$50,000  Told you prices varried widely...

Heh, because singaporeans are cheap, arrogant bastards... You're from philippines? But your tag says California...

Anyway, i'm considering going directly to the acrylic manufacturer "Damai" but according to friends in the industry we lack the technology to build an aquarium that size. The tank would have to be imported from germany(hence the price)

That and fibreglass isn't really acrylic. In fact it's nothing like acrylic in terms of light transmission and molecular structure. fibreglass is a thermoset compound. It's used to make sailboats. Acrylic is a thermoplastic, which means it can be re-heated unlike fibreglass.

i lived their before now i'm in California. sorry about the fiberglass... i meant plexiglass... :grinno: i don't really know much about bonding acrylics but hopefully you can get something cheap in terms of shipping. :) my friend once told me that in shipping (boat) you can have a transhipper help you to take away the hassle of going through the red tape. and she also told me that if someone from singapore ships a 20 footer container to germany the one paying for the shipping also pays the fee for the container to go back to singapore. basically the freight going back paid for already (don't quote me on this one since they only told me this info... haven't verified it yet since everyone will always charge you even if it was free for them). ask some large transhippers maybe they can help you out. :D
