Try it if you want, but I thought my FRT was a gentle giant as well (still is with other fish) but he hit four gars in about a week and I'm not talking about frayed fins, I'm talking about half of tail fins missing.

You are right! One time I took a peak at the pond a night and saw that the FRT was chasing some of the fish (koi and ID shark) and nipping at them. I guess that why I was seeing messed up fins. I quickly moved it into my 100G before it set it sights on the rays.
