13" mystery Fish? ID?

Redhorse was my first thought hard to say for sure though without a decent profile shot of the fish..The dorsal fin position is to obscured.

If I was to guess though just on the fly I would actually say
shorthead redhorse Moxostoma macrolepidotum

I doubt it is a river redhorse, strictly based on native range.

It could be a stone roller or red horse, I am familiar with neither. Post this in the Native American section, Sandtiger will probably know, or one of the other guys will for sure.

No they develop them during the spawning season....OK so sort of from breeding.. just not caused by but produced for.
