I am getting a 130gal tomorrow.:headbang2 I've got to refinish the stand then set it up. How long do I need to cycle a 130? I have well water but with a water softener. My 55 gal. and 40 gal stay pretty stable with params. My stocklist so far is a juvie devil3" (already have), and a green terror(my son desparately wants one) and a striped raph. What other cichlids could I fit in it comfortably that could hold their own? Also, should I get dithers and what kind? This is the biggest tank I have aquired since keeping fish so I'm kind of in uncharted territory. Any input is appreciated!

What's the footprint of the tank? If it's 6ft long you could easily add a few more fish. As far as stocking, it depends on what is available to you. You would probably need to cycle it for at least a month, unless you could transfer filters over to it, then you wouldn't need to cycle it at all. The only dithers I would use would either be silver dollars or tinfoil barbs. Anything smaller might become lunch.

Synspilums are awesome fish. My roommate has one and the growth rate on it is unbelievable. We got it around 3.5-4" a couple of months ago and already it's easily 6". I would say a synspilum would work, I would just make sure it's a little bit smaller than the devil and green terror when you get it.

ya you could try salvini, i have heard they can hold their own. or some f1 convicts, they are beautiful, they don't look like store bought ones.

buy a jardini

a synspillum would be cool, just watch out in case you get a psycho red devil. Maybe a jack dempsey?
