One thing that might well help is to add a couple of curtians of tall plants to segment the tank...out of sight...out of mind sort of thing. It wont restrict the swiming space much because the fish quickly learn to swim right through it but it CAN reduce aggression.

good point.

I got a 125 with 2 fire mouths3-4" 5" jack Female 4" vieja synsplum 12 6" dithers giant danios and rainbows, And one 10" maale flowerhorn. All get along great well the fire mouths fight some times but I did the plant curtin and it worked wonders. At 7" with no plant curtin the flowerorn didn't let the pleco leave the cave but now all the others do as the please. Oh and the devil looks male, jag female, texas male althoe if he is under 2" could be a female who hasn't developed the black bloc on the dorsal, green terror female. Good luck.

you guys were almost right about all of the killing... except that the jag did most of the killing then the FH ate what was left.... they were in the tank alone for quite a while till last week when my lfs got in a 12" tilapia.... i have since added her to the tank and it has been very smooth. the fh is gettin to be 10-11inches now and the tilapia seems to be female as far as i can tell. i will post some pics in the next few days

female carpintis will have a black blotch on it's dorsal fin. Male cichlids will generally be larger, have fin extensions, and develop a nauchal hump.

here are some up to date pics of the tank and fish. there is a bit of fighting between the FH and the tilapia but the FH seems to be the boss(most of the time anyway) hopefully my gues was correct and the tilapia is female>>>> let me know what you think... thanks
