Another tough (aggressive) species to go with your sp. 44's are the pundamilis sp. crimson tide. Tough to find a clean strain but they are beautiful.

Young male pictured here, I will try to get a more updated photo of him, he's a big boy now.

Well, there is a lady in the tank, a 5yr old, extremely aggressive latifasciata. At her age, no chance of any "action" taking place.

The posted photos are not the best, nor do they reflect the best "shots" of my Vics. I'll try to post some individual shots soon.

The all male Vic tank was a work in progress, starting off with maybe 6 or 7 males in my 75g long, then as the experiment evolved, I continued to add fish, then switched to the 125. I will also add that when I started the "all Vic" tank, the fish were all juveniles, just starting to exhibit some color.

Here's a shot of one of my Sp. 44's, just chilling. He wasn't in the mood to "light up" for me. This fish's brother is the king in the tank but he would not cooperate for a pic just now. I have a total of 3 in the 125g.

HOW ON EARTH DO YOU HAVE 400LBS OF SAND AND 400LBS OF ROCK IN A 135?!?! WHERE DO YOU PUT THE FISH!?!?!

Lol.

I really didnt plan on using it all on this one tank! :)

I figure realistically I'll only need about 150 lbs of sand or so. Hard to tell with the rock but i figure I'll use at least 300 lbs over a 6' length.

hahaha okay! i was so confused! that sounds alot better than 800lbs of substrate/rocks.

Does anybody have experience mixing breeding groups of Victorians? I figure if I avoid similar looking females I'll greatly reduce the chance of hybridization, but I'm still lost as far as stocking goes. I'm really not used to overstocking so my mental gauge is off. Do you overstock Vics like you do with Mbuna?

I am assuming that you are talking about two different breeding groups in the same tank.....and I can say with 100% certainty that you will definitely pruduce hybrids. You probably need ratio's of at least 3 to 1, so things are bound to happen. The only way you get away with it is placing a divider in your tank. I have done it this way in a 75g long. Take a trip to TAP plastics or anywhere else you can get plastic/acrylic and get a pc cut to the dims of your tank as a divider. Once you have the right size pc, drill at least 30 1/4" holes for circulation.
