Will it be ok on the long run to have a 135 gallon on the 2nd floor. The demension is a standard 72" x 18". The tank placement will be parallel to the beam. 1350 lbs will put a lot of stress on the wood floor. My house was built in 1955. Thanks in advance.

its going to be a ton of stress on the floor! what else is in/ will be in the room? what you could do to help off set some weight is go to home depot by a sheet of 3 1/4 plywood lay that down under your rug you can real lay the carpert cheapest and easyest way 2 help

I would not risk it with out beefing things up. Are the floor joists 2x8 or 2x10? If they are 2x8 I would double them up for the 72" that the tank will be on and add posts on both ends. If they are 2x10s I would add one for the entire span of the joists.

My house was built in 1940, but has additions that are much newer. I trust the older parts more than I do the new. I have a full basement under my house, which is comparable to having 2 stories I suppose. I would much rather have tanks in the old part rather than the new. Under my kitchen the beams are 4"x8". It's like walking on a concrete floor in that room.

I guess I rambled because you should see what it's made of. If it's solid as a rock then go for it. If you're unsure then it's not worth the risk.

I have hard wood floor so it will look arkwood if I place plywood to offset/spread out the weight. As far as beam size, I don't know. The reason that I know the beam direction is from running cable wire around the house. I am guessing that its 2x8 or even 2x6?

wow, 4x8, thats real sturdy. The only thing stronger then that would be metal beam.

At the moment, I have a 55 gallon tank next to a double stack 20 gallon tanks. If I remove those tanks and add a 135 gallon, it will be an additional 40 gallon.

your going to really need up strengthen that floor may last for a little but for the long hall i would nt feel safe and the well my floor feels "solid as rock" there is almost no second story wood house build to hold close to 1600 pounds in a 7 foot area.

What?

That ran together a bit too much. I'm not sure what you're saying or who you're saying it to.

the floor needs to be supported more.
the 2nd floor of a house is not made to hold that much weight in such a small area.
its kind of risky if it was me i would want more. better to be safe then sorry
