Ok, so it was about 1:30pm yesterday, and I was making my son some lunch... and while I was cooking I herd something.... I stopped what I was doing to listen and herd a loud water noise. I didnt know what to think I run to the hallway to find water ALL DOWN IT!:jaw-dropp Mind you this hallway is about 25'+ long... so Im running thru the water down to my room which is the last one open the door and BAM! Bigger puddle! I look at my 135 and it had cracked from the top right hand corner to the bottem left hand corner in the back!! :jaw-droppI DONT KNOW HOW!! more then half the water was already gone my fish are going nuts:nilly:, and I didnt know what to do. The crack was down the back and I couldnt even get to it. Ive never had this happen to me! This thing had only been up for 3-4 months now:irked:. Any ideas what made it crack like that?

I guess the lesson for me is dont have a huge tank in my bedroom!

emergency fish tank: clean out the bath tub really good as much tank water in it as you can and use a canister filter and air pump. if you have large fish, it could result from stress of the larger fisk banging on the side of the tank, or if your tank is not level

I put the smaller fish in other tanks but my two bigger ones are in this huge plastic tub from walmart, with a filter going on it and the air pump. Im going to go out today and try to find a pool or something for them, or maybe get some wood and build a little holding pond, and get the pond liner for inside

sorry to hear that. large fish and not being level can be a bad combo. that new may have had a weak glass on the back. what kind of tank is it?

what did you do about all the water? aquarium water is considered a category 2 water damage and if there is any carpet, pergo, tile or laminate wood affected it will have to be torn up and replaced. Reason being its a breeding ground for bacteria and in 24 hours will start to mildew and then mold. Not trying to scare you just giving you a heads up. I deal with this type stuff all the time in my line of work and its a bigger deal than most people think.

Last year I went on a call to where a tank had busted and the people used towels to clean up all the water they then put out fans to get some air movement. Anyways to make a long story short I was called out 5 weeks after it happened and noticed mold throughout the entire house and three of the people inside were sick from it and didnt even know thats what made them sick. the whole house was damaged and would have cost more to fix than it was worth. (it was an old house and only valued at about 65k from what the owner said. I then told him that before I could start anything I needed his Insurance info. He then told me he didnt have any home owners insurance. I had to leave then so not sure what came of it. You could smell the mold before even going inside the place.

i have a 55 bust and had to clean it up i used a carpet vac. and sucked up all the water. and well if somethign did happen to it i don't care i don't live there anymore. lalala but it was nice and dry. i rented those wet thingy from home depot.

The tank was level, It was a weird shape to me, 3'x2'x3', it couldnt of waited another month or two when I start on the big tank project:irked:

Yeah I know about the water damage. Brother is a construction worker and knows all that stuff, he was the first person I called. He told me about the mold and all that other good stuff in my floor. I used one of those carpet cleaners to suck it all up and then towels and what not to dry it.

I dont know what to do with the tank now, is the other glass still usable?

The story on this tank, that I know of is, It was at a hotel in the dinner/bar area for a long while, dont remember how long....10-15years I want to say? Then the hotel got bought by someone else, and the GM was my b/f's dad and they let me have it. I didnt have the room at the time so they brought it to their house. Then they decided they wanted it up and running so they filled it then after a short time emptied it, then in the garage it went. Well about 4 months ago I asked for it, and then it was brought to my house where it went in the garage for a day then outside to clean, then in the room. I dont know if it had to do with how old it is, or how it was moved, or my fish, or well we have a train that goes behind the house...

WOW that sux. Good luck to you.

Wow....You had alot of things working against you there!! Rough!!!

You could replace the piece that broke, but since the tank is old and kinda abused, you'll probably just blow out another panel.

I'm worried about that train!!! Make sure you use a good piece of foam under your tanks to help soften the vibration. The weight of all that water shifting around, even just a little, is enough to break the tank. If its major house-shaking vibrations being caused by the train, I wouldn't set up any big tanks...unless you like mopping.
