135 Mbuna setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks Mike! Yeah the bright green was a stage that happened for about 2 months and never happened again. Now it's thick and dark green, but the fish feed on it constantly.

The lighting grew as the fish did. The center is still a Current compact flo with a 10K/actinic bulb, but behind it is a 48' T-8 natural daylight strip and the front corners are 18" T-12 natural daylight strips. All strips but the center are cheap Aqueon strips, but it seems to keep the algae and fish thriving.

Very nice set up! I love aceis and labs too. The action in my african tank is something I've definitely enjoyed watching. Would like to try demasoni myself if I have a chance to set-up another good sized tank later.

Slick looking setup!

I never was a big fan of African tanks but this looks great, I really dig the algae growth on the rocks. Great job as always :)

BTW... How did that Sun-Sun end up working out for you? I have been thinking of adding one to my display setup in conjunction with a surface skimmer to tidy it up a bit.

Thanks guys! Yeah the rocks on the left are leaning on the acrylic slightly. They seem to like it because now they can go under it as well as around it. That's the area where most of the juvie Demasoni hang out.

The Sunsun seems to be worked out great. It's a bit of a bear to wrestle out of the stand for cleaning, but it is quiet and has been working great ever since I set it up. Not sure if it'll last as long as an Ehiem, but for now it's definitely been worth the money I paid for it. pretty cool filter with a ton of space inside. I ve actually got it packed full of limestone rocks on top of the white pads. Lots of surface area for BB and it helps buffer the tank.....not that I really need that much help with all the rock in there lol but it works well
