It's been a while man, what sort of media are you putting in for filtration?? I can't wait so see how much everyone has grown, don't disappoint! :D

Does this mean you've already gotten a hold of some more stalsbergis or are you still waiting on a batch? Hopefully the new ones you get will be around the same size as the ones you have now.

Having some BNs in there isn't that big of a deal, you can't really see them anyway :D So no luck on the flash pleco yet?

It has yes! I have added 2kg of bio rings, 25 bioballs, 1kg of activated carbon and 1kg of zeolite. It's caused a bacterial bloom I think. But at least theres enough media for the stock. It is clearing still though.

I may have found a supplier for some Jeff Rapps imports, which will be around 2-2.5". Still waiting for confirmation. Otherwise the only size I can find them is 1-1.5" - for the same size!

I know you don't see them often but It bugs me... I think I'm going to get a large colony of large apple snails instead. They do a great job on cleaning scraps, algae and such. So with a few of them - make me = :)

I will try my best to get some pictures up tonight... Working on a Sunday. :(

Wow, that's a lot of media. I hope you're not going overboard with the purification. I have read that having carbon is not good for planted tanks since it "purifies" the water which will also get rid of the nutrients that the plants need.

It's taking some time, but I hope you eventually get your dream stock in there :)

Regarding the apple snails, do you plan on keeping them until they're super huge? They might eat the plants that your SDs won't.

Pics?!

Yeah I thought this afterwards, but my sump still seems empty! I hadn't thought of the carbon removing some of the plants nutrients. I will monitor the plants.

It may take even longer because I may have to get the smaller sized ones.

As for the snails, my little bro has 12 of them in between his two tanks, both of which are planted. They don't touch the plants, or if they do it's very minor!

I added a new thread to CA/SA forum. Please have a look.
