what do you guys think? 6 x 1.5 x 2

jar - how long?

pbass - how long?

dats - how long?

i am really wondering if i can take a jar to 20-22" in this tank - cuz a 622 tank would work for a long time for a single jar....and i would only be missing 6" off the width...

what do you guys think?

Jardini will probably max 20" in that tank which is normal. Pbass never a good idea in small tanks. 240 minimum for Pbass. Dats will do good in there for a long time. I think you will be good for a while with the Jar and dats but the Jar can be really aggressive.

For fish like those, ideally the tank needs to be at least 4times the length of the fish to find the right length of the tank, and 2 times the length of the fish to find the right width of the tank. This is just a basic guide. For a 17inch wide tank, i would advise sticking to fish which grow to 12inches long or less depending on the fishes activity levels.
