well im going to start getting the materal for my turtle pond ...... the only questions i got would be with your mesurments how tall is the pond and will it fit through a standerd size door? i would like to buil this in my garage then trandsport it dining room ..... im a young carpenter and this looks like a fun challlge. I have two turtles 1.yellow belly slider and 2. cooter ...... as yours "1 the larger one of 7" in length" is struggleing to climp up the large ramp i had bought for his 75 gallon tank ..... this is a great build and i caint wait to start my new project GOOD JOB!!!:headbang2
mine is 4 foot long,3 foot wide and 20 inches tall. and when its stood up it had more than enough room..it was pretty light and easy to carry.you could easily make it bigger.the only thing i would do differently is make it a little taller so i could fill it up more and i had two of them escape today lol.the littlest one crawled ontop of my big girls back and climbed out..i watched her fall out and book it across the room...then i walked in and my biggest one was sitting on the floor, bone dry so she had been there for a while...i ended up putting screens along the edges of the dock.im sorry i didnt snap more pix i will tomorrow :) thanks guys

lol oh yes many a turtle has escaped that way. They really like to climb on eachother while basking, plus it can give them new opertunities.

yea it scared the S*** outta me when the little one jumped out...he did about two flips before hitting the ground..then booked it lol he ran towards me like he was scared and wanted me lol

nice turtles! lets see.i used 2x3's not 2x4's.they worked just fine.all the wood, drylock, two brushes, and caulk costed me 60 bucks but i had a 10 dollar coupon so it was 50. oh and that included screws.i got two sheets of ply and had them cut it in half at the store so i brought 4 pieces home.i got 12 2x3's just to be safe in case of a mess up.i still had a whole piece left over along with the scraps.then the lighting cost me 10 bucks for the fixture,15 bucks for both bulbs,2 dollars for extender chains and i picked up a little extension cord.then i spent 80 bucks on the canister filter which should be here any minute :headbang2and i got a 60 gallon heater and put my turtles existing heater in there and theyre good to go! so the whole build with just wood and materials was 50 bucks but if you need all the equipment i spent under 200!

yea my turtle was an escape artists as well, i put him in the pond for the first time and came back 1min later and he was 5ft up a rock wall we had made at the back of the pond... needless to say he ran away after about 2 weeks
