if theyre hungry,theyll eat it.
A group of electric yellow cichlids should be fast enough to escape the turtles.
My turtles lost interest in chasing them pretty quickly.

You should fill it up so that the water is deeper.
I would recommend attaching strips of acrylic that overhang 1.5" inwards and then filling the tank to within 1-2" of the top. Just make sure your basking area stays in the middle of the tank or has a wall behind it.

If you don't want to do the acrylic, at least fill it up to within 3" of the top... More water volume is always better.

yea i may fill it up more.id have to make a new dock.they love it tho.they are so happy compared to before...except my sick one..idk wats wrong with him.hes a tad bit more active today but still will not eat.his skin is even paler than the others.

Go to a vet and/or go to turtletimes.com and post symptoms on the diseases section.
I'd also recommend getting a stool sample from each of them, then taking the turtles to a vet for a general checkup and at the same time have them send out the stool to be checked for parasites.

Great Build.

Sand shouldn't be an issue, the gravel is much more dangerous. Larger pieces of gravel will get caught in their throats/digestive tracts and impact the bowels. Sand passes through much easier. I'd think that it'd be best to not feed them food that sinks to the bottom, I still think the sand won't hurt, but why tempt fate?

As far as the vet goes, you're probably going to pay a pretty penny. "Emergency" visits for sick cats and dogs usually will run you at least 200 or so bucks just to get seen, not to count any tests, lab work, medicine, etc. that you'll incur. Turtle vets are clearly more specialized and rare (read: expensive and overpriced), so I'd try any number of remedies and online help before taking them to a vet. Best of luck with it all!

I turtle visit to the vet should cost whatever the normal office visit fee is of the vet, plus any x-ray's, medication, ultrasound, etc that they might add to the bill for treatment.

Try calling a couple of local vets and seeing if they treat turtles. If they don't, ask them to recommend someone local who does, as they all tend to know each other.

Oh, yah. If you can, try to isolate the sick turtle to get a stool sample the day of or day before you take him to the vet. This will make the vets job easier, and make the visit easier on the turtle, plus they can check it for parasites.

idk guys.i saw a glimmer of hope today.i put a couple cray fish in the pond and the sick one bit it but left it alone.this is more than what hes been doing lately.should i wait it out and see if it improves and try different foods?
