Regarding the power cable, that's running to my computer and we simply couldn't be bothered hiding it as only that part pictured is visible and the rest disappears into a cupboard.

Well.........Ok, but, perhaps concider (just concider), hiding it before you next show off the tank to some people that dad brings over to the house, (and you know thats going to happen).
Because It sorta grabs some attention away from the tank.

From the look of your shop, I take it you dont get much snow there in the winter?

(Oh, and my dad died about 10 years ago...I miss him a lot, more so when Im out in my shop and I attempt to build anything.
The stand of yours is not just a thing to hold a tank, it's a story of your dad and you building something as a team.
More filled with meanings than the glass above it ever will be)

We call it a shed in Australia, and I've never seen snow in my 21 years on this planet

Very sentimental statement about your dad, I'll keep that in mind.
