I'm looking to buy some black sand and will be putting a black background on very soon.I also understand they become more agressive when in dark surroundings?? Would you use blackwater extract? I want him to turn jet black. He also weighed in at 4lbs. He could easily fit a golfball in his mouth. I have been fish keeping for 32 years now and worked 15 years at a petshop where I had to go to the wholesalers that supply petshops fish and have never seen a black this big. He must be 3'' thick at the head. I don't regret the purchase at all. Thanks,

Seriously, He is worth every penny and more. He's seriously impressive in person. I've seen 14 inchers sell for 850.

blackwater extract is JUNK... if you want the real deal buy some peat and put it into your filters... works great at replicating the amazonian waters-

Thanks for the tip. I happen to have a huge bail of peat in my basement for my T's and pede's. I'll just net up a bail and toss it in the filter. Thanks again for the tip.
