The first Hollywood portrayals of Snakeheads were ridiculous. They are an apex predator though. They belong in aquariums in North America not natural waterways. If the owner cannot get rid of them fillet them up (or give them to somebody that will) or use them for fertilizer.

Actually the northern snakehead dont come from aquariums, they were released by an Asian businessman for religious beliefs.

What is the definition of an apex predator?

Their massive spawns provide a great food source for many of the more accepted species, like bass. This debate is never going to go away. They are here to stay and quite frankly they are not bad to have around.

I'm still waiting for their invasion! So I can put an arrow on them!

id quite enjoy them being here. I target them in Florida and its a blast. better fighters and better eating than bass.

have you ever eaten them before? If so what's it tastes like?

na but I hear theyre delicious. I did not keep any out of the canals down there though. they look way to filthy with all the trash.

most fish eaters are pretty good tasting. I've had them a couple of times, not too much meat unless its really big, but the meat is really firm, almost like the dark meat on chciken a little.

i take that back. I tried eating a bowfin that didn't survive the hooking and it tasted pretty awaful, it was muddy and soft flesh, like that of soggy bread.

I would compre snakeheads to northern pike in texture., but less meat
