i think if a LFS cant take care of a type of adult fish them selfs they shouldnt be selling them

I think they should sell and we should be able to buy any fish thats not ....... endangered, protected, near extinction, deadly, or needs a diet that can not be provided for by the average fishkeeper. I would also add ugly to that list but beauty is in the eye of the beholder :D

JMO of course.......

My local fish store has a few $20 RTC's this week. I can only hope they end up in a 75 gallon tank.....:uhoh:

ADD......Wild caught to that list. Wild caught fish should remain......In the wild.

Do you have ANY clue what the percentage rate of fish are still wild caught from south America!?!?! In a perfect world I would love too see the entire pet trade self contained bred stock but I don't see that happening anytime soon. I would pretty much guarantee you would have to get rid of some of your fish if you don't believe in keeping wild cough specimen!:nilly:

You guys need to also consider that some LFS don't choose to take in these fish, but it still happens. Distributors sending the wrong fish, distributors including fish just because they don't want them any more, customers dropping off fish because they can't, or don't want to, take care of the fish any longer. Sad but true.

The majority of fish in the trade are wild caught.

Fish stores should do a little more investigation into the people buying the fish. I am sure that fish stores don't make that much money off of rtcs or tsns. The least they could do is make sure they are selling to an expirienced aquarist that has at least a good starter tank. My 2 cents anyway. Or at least educate them on exactly what to expect for future requirements.
