Curse you Marineland products! Woke up early this morning to find my less than 3 mo old 150 gal tank cracked right across the middle of the bottom.
150 gallons of water puddled on the concrete floor. 1 dead salvini, 1 dead firemouth, 1 dead freshwater cuda that was 8"+ and the Jag and Red Terrors hangin' on for dear life. After an hour in the Payara tank the Jag and male Festae are still on the bottom - not motionless tho - their fins are now moving - gills pumping away. The female Festae is up and swimming.

This is the 1st time I've had this happen due to what I believe is the manufacturers fault. I don't think the glass could hold the water weight and it cracked. Supposed to be warrantied for life - I'm not holding my breath.

The loss of life however is tragic. The only reason the Cuda' was in their last nite was to give him a breather from the Arrowana that decided to flip out yesterday in a different tank. Not sure why I'm even writing about this other than to vent my frustration. It could've been alot worse and all 6 were dead. Still burns me to no end.

RIP - 4" Male Firemouth, 5" Male Salvini, 8" Freshwater Barracuda

That' suck! I would definately give them a call to see if there's something they can do. You don't have any rocks or other décor that could have fallen and cracked the glass do you?

I hope you had a Marineland brand stand. If I'm not mistaken, the lifetime warranty only applies if you were using their tank on one of their stands.

Sorry to hear it. Make sure that you take pictures of the tank before you move it, with stand and all. Get good shots of the crack. If it is a stand maufactured for 150 gallon tanks, regardless of manufacturer, you should get the tank replaced. If they resist, I would let them know that you frequent forums with large membership bases and you're happy to share your experiences.

If the stand was a do-it-yourself job, you are probably out of luck.

Man that really sucks.I've used Marineland products for over 20 yrs with no problems. But that is their filters.Just recently got a few of their tanks.Their tanks are made by perfecto,i believe

I've heard of that happening quite a few times with their 150 g tanks. The 30" tall ones right? It happened to my brother's tank that size also. I've got the same size tank with my Flowerhorn in it for the past 18 months, I still feel hinky about that tank just knowing how many have had problems.
After just 3 months they shoud warrenty the tank. Although I think I'd go with a different size. I'm sorry you lost your guys :-(

Thank you all for your sympathys - just an FYI - the Jag died 2 hours after the post, the Male Festae died 12 hours after the post and the Female Festae moved on to greener pastures 48hrs later - a total lose. Unfortunately for me the tank was on a DIY stand, a stand that was built far superior to those manufactered by perfecto - perfectly level and could hold 4x the amount of water weight at least - Oh well my lose right. Not really - I'm gonna rebuild the bottom with .060 pond rubber. The weight of the water will no longer be held by 3/8" glass and 1/8" plastic instead it will be supported by a concrete stoop. At some point I will contact Tangled Up In Cichlids to see if they can replace my Festae with ones of similair size. I usually shop local at That Fish Place however there stock lately has just been riddled with parasites. I'm gettin' really sick and tired of spending money on fish that have one foot in the grave.
