Thats a pretty big range there :screwy:

It really depends on what you're going to keep, what your bioload will be. Personally i tend to over filter, I aim for 10-12 times/hr turnover. so if you have a 150 gallon, you want IMHO about 1500 gallons/hr of water being moved. but I stock loads of dirty fish like plecos and cichlids.

Exactly ,let us know your planned complete stock and we can help you out more.

i plan on having lg so. american cichlids and central american cichlids
and i will probably have 5-8 of them depending on companionship and tolerance of each other

as always thanks for your valued opinions

ok i did over emphasize the filtration haha. i run a 125 with a fx5 and twin ac110's plenty i think.

but dont you want the best for your fish. and whatever happened to "you can never have too much filtration?"

Build a wet dry filter....Buying one will cost some money...But building one can save $50-$200, dpending on the style and resource...Any tank over 100g, from what I have learned, should be filtered by a wet.dry sump....Adding on that caniseters primary thing is mechanical....Knowing this, I would just throw out the canister idea and stick on two HOB's, preferably AC101's....

Side note: Having a canister run on one of the big tanks is always a must...somedays I feel like buying a tank, and I already have an established filter to throw on it....
