Adding some dwarf baby tears in the front would really look good once it starts to grow. IMO you should have some foreground plants too, Anubias Congensis is a really pretty foreground plant.
I'll try to get some pictures posted later today. I do have some Anubias that I picked up yesterday and some crypts that I'm planning on using in the foreground. Thanks for your suggestions!
Here is another FTS and a side shot.
I'm wanting the back to be heavily planted while still providing a lot of swimming room in the front of the tank.
Thanks for taking a look, and please keep the feedback coming!
Yeah, reaching the bottom is a challenge, especially when I had to cut out the old silicone and reseal the tank.
I had thought about sloping th back gravel, but that may have to wait for a bit for the tank budget to recover. My primary concern about sloping was that i was originally going to go with Thorichthys in this tank and I was afraid their digging would cause a land slide. Now that i've decided on Rainbow Cichlids I'm not so concerned, but I would definately need more substrate before looking at sloping.
Today was a day of additionals and subractions from the tank.
Well, I went with the Altispinosus, and now have a group of 6 of them in my tank. I'm really hoping that I will have a good group with a mixture of males and females.
Then I got home to find out that the School of Buenos Aires Tetras decided that they wanted to eat my plants. After going through the trouble of going with a planted tank I will not have them undo it, so I bagged them up and took them in for credit. Not sure what i'll use to replace them, but a change was needed.
anacoris is really cool and gets tall fast to fill some of the open water. It doesn't require additional co2. As far as fertilizer...more fish. The poop makes excellent fertilizer.
Congratulations on the tank! Looks great! I'm terrible with plants...was researching and stumbled on this thread. And I apologize, but I must ask an off topic question? How and what did you use for resealing? Just recently picked up a 110g Tall that I tried resealing( scraped old silicone and used GE 1-100% Silicone) ended up with a disaster leak while at work 5 days after setup!
