150 Gallon Set up

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I started the swap over at 7:30 this morning and 4 hours later everyone is happily in their new home... :headbang2
I'm trying not to overcrowd the tank with decor, but I think i need another vertical element to the tank. The Flowerhorn looked so big in the 55gal, but it looks pretty tiny now. he's exploring the tank and checking everything out. I'll try to get pics up later tonight or first thing tomorrow. Gonna go try to find some silver dollars this afternoon.
So happy to have the tank put in!

Looking really good!

Thanks guys. I still have to figure out the suction cup problems i have with the powerhead i'm using. It just won't stay in place, the suction cups let go of the glass and then it goes off kilter. I might attach it to a rock or a weight to keep it up off the gravel bed. I'm hoping that this will had some extra circulation at the bottom of the tank since it is so tall. The heaters are actually hidden behind the tall green plant in the corner. I'm really happy with how the blacked out back of the tank looks.

Last night i used a zip tie to attach the Powerhead to a rock on the bottom of the tank. This will keep it situated where i want it. The flow looks really good in the tank, and it gives some motion to the plants.
Water is clean, clear, and polished :D. More pics of the final set up coming soon.

Well, everything is still up and running with no problems. Water parameters are great. I think I need one more tall plant to add to the left side of the tank. Seems like a large void there. tank8.jpg
As far as the silver dollars go, there is now one less than when i took this picture on Saturday. He killed one off in the middle of the night last night. The rest are going back to the LFS today because the Flowerhorn is far too aggressive, but they did make for a pretty tank. tank9.jpg
It's really funny how he hated the pictus cats, doesn't mind the two raphael's that are still in there with him, he is super aggressive toward the Silver Dollars, but leaves the clown pleco alone.
Thanks for taking a look at the tank.

Looks really nice...wish I could get a deal like that on a tank around here. Even on craigslist, a 150 with all that yours came with would be selling for $400-600.

The best part about the deal was that all I did was post a WTB add saying that I wanted something above a 90 Gallon and the person contacted me within 48 hours saying she had a tank to sell.
There are some good deals out there, you just have to strike when the iron is hot.

I did a large water change yesterday after cleaning out the remains of the Silver Dollar Massacre...
Today I picked up a few more plants to fill in the void in the background. I'll try to take some more pics of the tank after i get them added.
