Hello MFK,

I have had my 150 up and running for a little over 2 months now, the water parameters are all great Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0 and Nitrates under 40 PPM, running a FX5 and Marineland 400. The current stock list is as follows:

3 X Tiger Oscars (1 is 5", the other 2 are 3" - 4")
2 X Common Plecos (under 3")
2 X Comet Goldfish (2")
1 X Catfish (actual name in my tank setup) (6")

I was wondering if I could possibly add more fish?
Maybe a Striped Peacock Eel?

I am also looking into breeding some type of treat for my Oscars once a week, any Ideas?

No eels, the Oscars would eat them or the plecos would eventually. I wouldn't add more fish personally.. those pleocs and oscars will be HUGE bio0loads on that system once they mature.

for a treat I would suggest nightcrawlers, almost 100% parasite free and little potential risk. makeing sure they come for an organic source ( no pesticides/herbicides used ) is the only real concerning factor with feeding these. My Oscars use to love them! and they are a very healthy food as well. AVOID goldfish and Caprids in general or you will likely end up with Hole in the head issues.

Thanks,
I assumed that an eel would be a bad idea, oh well I'll just get another tank and buy the eel, lol
How about convict feeders? i read that they are relatively easy to breed and they grow at a steady pace

honestly when all fish are full grown you're already gonna have hell keeping that tank clean, 3 full grown oscars would be pretty much full stock IMO even with that filtration. ditch the goldfish before it becomes a health issue to your oscars, and i'd also get rid of at least one of the plecos before they turn in to huge crap machines. Honestly, i'd get rid of both and just scrub the tank manually.

In response to the peacock, oscars would eventually eat it

good luck

"feeder convicts" often times avoid getting eaten and will in turn start breeding in the main tank and start beating the snot out of the original fish they where intended to feed. a pair of cons can beat the snot out of an Oscar with few exceptions.

Thanks guys for all the info.
I agree the tank is already pretty full, just curious to see if there was anything that could fit with the list.
also, why should i take out the plecos?
and the comets, what kind of trouble am getting my self into by keeping them,
once again thanks

I Think the 150 could suit the 3 Oscars for life, and if worse comes to worse, my uncle has a 75 gallon tank and he could take one from me, if they were to get too aggressive or to big

common plecos will reach sizes easily over 24" they are simply poop factories. supplimental feeding will be a must. these fish are also well known to become omnivorous borderline carnivorous as they mature. and will pose a real threat to your Oscars long term. they can also be highly territorial, and aggressive to anything that comes near their "spot". they require alot of filtration and also pose a threat to the water quality for your Oscars who do not tolerate poor water conditins for long.

THe goldfish are a bad idea because the Oscars may decide to prey on them. size wise even common comets can get 12"+ So theoretically you could keep them together. But goldfish are also temperate watered fish not tropical fish. They do best in cooler water tanks, not tropical.
