I think that's fine for jar for life, if you go for silver you'll need to upgrade after few years

agreed. thats more like a 275..at least thats what my LFS calls a tank with those dimensions..

Some odd sounding dimensions there. Definetly bigger then a 150g, but with that 72 x 24 footprint it's no better then a 180g as far as housing aros. Debatable whether or not you could house a jar for life. Would be good for a silver up to 26 or 27" so 3 or 4 years.

I have a silver and he was in a 150g for about a year and I recently upgraded. So you could def do the 150g for now but you are going to have to move him to a larger tank in the future so I would just keep that in mind when planning your tank. As for tank mates I have an oscar, a couple pictus, a marbled pim, and a bichir and they all get along just fine.
