150 WOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Man I had the exact same tank and stand as that 150, and the exact same thing happened to me except I lost all 150 gallons, all fish died, the pumps on both filters burned out, and both heaters broke! I was not amused to say the least!
Is yours 3/8" glass? Mine was and when I stormed into Petsmart they said they have had this problem before and the manufacturer is now using 1/2" glass.
They gave me a new tank and stand, wrote me a check for the filters and the heaters and replaced all my fish.
Took forever to get the dead fish smell out of my house!
I feel your pain brother!

I'm in the process of possibly buying a 150 like yours from a private seller, the tank has never been used but after seeing this thread and that one of the LFS recently had the same thing happen to theirs (they lost about 30% of the water) makes me nervous about buying it, is there something about this particular tank that makes it prone to leaking?

Deepers tankz, not enough bracing. Bad sealant, stress, unlevel surface. Many things. If you are buying from Brandon Rodgers though you should be aight...;). He makes his own tanks, they are sturdy and great. He is used to making 300gal tanks, so a 150 should be a snap. BTW...have you been to Omaha to see that new LFS? I heard from my Bro-in-law that its pretty sweet. Called Paradise Cove or sumptin. lemme know!! I can't go visit it for myself! Bugga it all!!

No it's not from Brandon, the tank is from a guy in Omaha that bought it for a reef tank but ran out of money before he could set it up...lol. I haven't been to that store in Omaha but I would like to someday. So do you think I should pass on this tank and go with a different design like a longer not as deep tank?

Go for wider, longer is optional. Depth of tank isn't really that important, unless you keep angels and the like that have deep bodies. Aside from that, its just wasted tank space. Wider are better, with width comes length...its all up to you though. If its a good price I'd say still get it, you can always get more tanks!! ;)

I just don't want water everywhere :nilly: idk maybe I'll just save up for a 180gal it would probably be better for the fish that I want anyways. BTW Peanut I asked Brandon about making me a plywood tank...he doesn't have the time anymore. :(

Sorry for hijacking your thread Tongue33, sorry about your tank. :(

Great save!
