I've got a Monster Pond I'm starting here at this house. This will be a pretty quick build so I will update with pics each day. I need some imput on a filter system as I will only have a bog filter to begin with. I am on a budget so I will be using 18 mill plastic from Ace Hardware also. I have used this in the past with great success. Well for 2 years anyway. I moved to Atlanta so I do not know the results past that. This will be about 10'x7'x3'. I'm doing it with a tiller and shovel. I need the exercise. My 13 year old son is helping me so you might see him in some of the pics. I plan on keeping Goldfish and a few Koi. I have a real good friend that owns a LFS so I could have a few Oscars and Pacu's. I never try to sell him anything but he will trade supplies for my fish. I have had Salt fish and fresh in the past. Please look at my pics and give me some advice. I will update everyday with new pics. I check this site out every night so I know pics are very important. I will also post a pic of my Red Devil (MIdas) in my 55 Gallon. I have really looked at the plywood tanks and I want one of these. My house is a manufactured house so the Monster tank indoors is out of the question for now. That is why I'm going for a Monster pond. I really need alot of input on this one and I know yall will help me out. Like I said I will post new pics everyday untill this Monster is finished.

You've got a lot of damn work to do but it looks like it'll be awesome.

It looks like the yard slopes down hill. If that's the case, I would get a couple of 55g barrels, put them on the high side of the pond, and pile dirt around them. You could then pump water from the pond into the top of the barrels and have it flow out of the bottom of them back into the pond. It would be similar to the overhead drip filters that are popular in Asian parts.

I have already got an awsome pump for the waterfall. It will pump 2500 gallons an hour at 5' of head. I've already planed for the electrical outlets . I'm just diggin now.

awesome project! keep us updated

are you going to work your filtration into the waterfall?

It is a pretty big project considering the tools I'm working with. I've did it before and I'm determined to do it again. I built a pond 18 years ago that was a 20' circle and 4 ' deep. I got pics, but I would have to scan them. Now we got digital cams. lol The pics of my project are taken with a Sony 8.1 MP. I have it set at 1 MP for this web site. I also like to e-mail photos and 1 MP works just fine. If I uploaded anything bigger you would have to scroll to the right to see my Monster pond project. New pics on Thursday. I'm off to bed. I've actually got alot done since I took those pics at 5:00 pm.
