are you going to work your filtration into the waterfall?

I need help on this issue. I cant spend alot right now on a filter. A good DIY filter would be great. I will post pics of my pump on Thursday and I think this could be a killer pump for a filter, but just dont know. That is why I'm kinda leaning towards a plant filter. Pump all the water in a box full of plants. I've seen the prices of pond filters and I just cant do that right now.

You've got the right idea w/ the plant or bog filter. Like Rally said, a couple of 55 gal. drums can make a filter, a smaller pond made from extra liner can make your bog. You can se many dif. types of filters in this section and don't have to spend a lot on a "pond filter" that will clog easily and cause you more cons than pros.

Look at the rocks in the photos!
Is that what you expected?

The rocks seem to be about one of the biggest challenges you will face.
I guess Im not used to seeing such rocks here where I live.

Here in ND all we got is clay.
I could dig all day and perhaps hit one little rock and that would be such a shock that I would have to go in and tell my wife how hard it was to dig around it...LOL

Ihave so many of these rocks. I will be using them to surround the pond. I dont know alot about these rocks as far as the PH balance on the fish. I'm going to try to keep these rocks at a minimum in the water.

I tried to take pics from every angle. I have a butt load of rocks in my yard, I took a close up of the kind of rocks I have. I will try and keep these out of the water cause I dont know the affect on the PH and all of that. I have put one of these in my aquarium before with no ill effects. This may be just a good ole Alabama rock. As long as it is a Roll Tide rock it will be ok. I work with a joker who is from Ohio, so I get a little yankee advice on my pond. Like he knows? lol.
