They are made so good, so true to life, that all the animals in the area think its like a fast-food place for them.
Thus the one answer many people use is to fence off, or place a net above the pond to keep the clever,hungry racoons away.
The problem with adding a fence or a net to a pond is that it sorta wrecks the "wild" look the owner of the pond was aiming at for with his pond.
But what else can a guy do?
