1500 Gallon Monster Pond

I look forward to seeing it complete. You certainly have the land for it . I was digging one in my yard and after 3 feet hit pipes and cables running in pvc pipes so put the dirt back on it and said forget it.

I only had 1 place I wanted for a real pond not the buried pvc "ponds" I have but its not to be as cant go deeper than 3 feet so not going to bother .
 
3' is plenty deep for a pond. Or, 2' below grade,2' above will give you more space/volume.

Yes your right but at that point I might as well just stick with the 120 gallon pvc ponds I have buried at 2 feet.
Its for cichlids if it was for koi like you mentioned 3 feet would be great.

My objective was to go to 5-6 feet as than even in cold winter spells its still warm at that depth . A friend not far from here has his cichlid pond that deep and has more or less constant mid 70s at that depth all yr long.

While in my case I have to heat the water now as high 50s at night (cold spell) but goes back up during day.
