1500 Gallon Monster Pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep rain water from flowing in the upper part of the pond. I will post some pics of this area today. I'm thinking about digging a 6" trench around the upper end of the pond to divert water away. Will this work? Or do I need to make the low side higher? It is already higher that what I wanted but I got to do what ever it takes.

My dad builds pools and uses a submersible pump to drain rainwater out of freshly dug pools. You might check around and see if an equipment rental place near you rents those out and try that. Those things work like a charm. Other than that a wall of sand bags might do the job.

Do the trench idea. It doesn't have to be 6". A couple of inches will do and will be a little less digging. In IL we have retched clay. I have used relief trenches on many projects to drain water away from a project.

I'm going with this. We will see how it turns out.
