awesome setup! I am having problems with algae/nitrate too, I think I need to invest in a skimmer now. Next pay check! What kind do you use?
Hi Lindsey the skimmer's a H&H v2001, which is the same as an RLSS R8i, there's a pic on page 1 but it's a little bit big for what you'd need. To reduce nitrates and Po4 the cheapest way is to do a few large 50% water changes on a weekly basis. Your tank's what, 30g? should be easy. If you suggest some skimmer brands/models within your budget and post them I can help you pick one out. Best to go for something rated to at least double your tank volume.
