I was thinking of also having two different groups of geophagus. Maybe Sveni and Altrifons, a pair of acaras for that pop of blue color. A few plecos and I do like Pictus catfish.

I can personally say that Pictus are great pets. I currently own a single adult pictus, and he has been very delightful to keep, very active compared to most of my catfish, and very pretty, too. The whiskers are also impressive. He comes out during the day and darts around the tank; if you want some action, I'd highly recommend getting a few pictus and watching the fun unravel.

I love him enough to keep him even though I'm getting rid of over half my stock today for new fish (I'm also keeping my precious Striped Raphael Catfish, which I also enthusiastically recommend). If you don't mind a more peaceful tankmate, I highly recommend Striped Raphs. They don't cause trouble and are total beasts; you can put them with anything. From aggressive dovii to peaceful livebearers, you can keep them with literally anything.
