150gal +... build with Pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
to do that with the frams you have now you will need to remove the 2 x 2's you have now

But yeah... something like that, you can't "hang" you frame from the verts.. you need the frame to sit on top directly... don't forget that your 150 gallon tank will weight upwards of 1500 pounds when it's all said and done... do you want to trust that to the strength of the screws?

not sure if Im alowed to quote this.

UPDATE:

So this weekend, i was only able to do the fifth coat. one more gallon to go!

I did the stands frame today, but thats as far as i got.

I used 15 2x4's for the stand and close to 200 screws.

I put the tank on the stand as well to make sure it was to my likings. i still have to lay 3/4 plywood between the tank and stand befor i wrap the stand.

How it this frame diffrent from mine appart from the wood thickness?

I would just use 2x4's, not 4x4's. That way you can fit them in between the top and bottom frames at the same points where you have 2x2's, without having to remove the 2x2's. That should give the stand more than enough strength to hold up a 150. Especially if the whole thing is clad in 3/4" plywood.

oh i so wish i had cad at home so i could draw that up correctly basslover34 is absolutely correct that design wont be feasible it may hold for a while but not forever i am honestly surprised it holds your weight ive been a carpenter for 16 years let me get a cad drawing made up is there maybe a place for a stickie on proper framing of a cabinet dont want to see any mfkers with busted tanks and broken dreams

Im glad i ran this through you guys before a built a tank.
Since this is my first attempt at this I didint realy know how the frame should have
