It's up to you at the end of the day :)

personally, i would get the royal. they seem to be recognize their owner very well and come out all the time, and i love my regular clown knife. but u should really only get it if u have a big enough tank

My BGK recognises me when I hand feed him and he's not frightened of the light :) Most BGK's will given time to adapt :) Post some pics of your royal in another thread please as I like them aswell :)

Perhaps you should try to figure out what happened first - how big was your BGK and what is in the tank that might have eaten it? Also, I can't remember what size tank you have, is it big enough for a royal?

I put him in a 400L tank - and he was alone with some bigger angelfish! i think he was eaten - don't know really...all other fish are here, and he seemed like he was thriving before i left...i have a 600L cycling right now that i got for my 21st, but it isn't ready for any fish yet and i know knifes don't really like newly cycled tanks...so i'm thinking if i get the royal, put him in my quarantine tank until the 600L's cycled with some fish - like silver dollars or something then move them into the 400L and then move him in to the 600L? but i really do want the royal, he isn't so big, only about 10 cm in length...wondering if it's worth it? decision, anyone? tell me soon because if you all agree then i'll buy him on sunday, i'm going to rome this thursday.

i'd wait a bit and get either a bigger BGK or Royal but it's up to you to decide which to go for :) BGK won't get as large but as angels can be very fin nippy then a small one may be picked on :( Either way I wouldn't put a small knife in to be on the safe side.

well...i hope he didnt jump out...because one day i'll find a very dried out fish!!! yeah, i will wait for a while until i feel ready for another one!
