16 F00TER Tank!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
only thing i can think is it was built to go along behind a bar... just hasnt been put into a bar yet.

Looks about like I would expect. The tank is designed around the moba group. The decor is for the fishes benefit, not the viewer.the length is to cut down aggression. As you can see from the front forum, the others there love the setup. Not something anyone that isnt really into tanganyican cichlids would get.Its the main reason tang cichlid tanks are so unpopular with the keepers sig. others. The tanks are spare, all the tang cichlid keeper cares about is the fish.
Not saying I keep my tanks like that.I dont. But I get it.

i see your point but the tank it self is just retarded unless it had current for river fish.

Sounds like you completely missed my point.
A person posting on the frontosa forum about thier giant tank wouldnt set up a river tank.

The tank itself at 16 ft is a construction marvel. C'mon how often do you see a tank that long. I can see why some folk like or dislike the tank. But this is where tactfulness comes in. Sure you can voice your opinion but I feel some of the criticism is a bit harsh and uncalled for.

I agree with spongebob. I can't believe all the negative comments. I don't think anyone here would say that if they owned the tank.

just because the tank isnt stuffed to the brim with cichla, bichirs, monster cats, arowanas etc. doesn't make it any less of a cool tank.
the tank decor isn't impressive from an aesthetics standpoint but it's more functional than anything else.
how many central american cichlid keepers do you see with the same type of decor like pipes, pots, rocks etc? do you think that those things appear in nature? of course not... it's function over form, but you don't see them getting flamed for doing that.

waste of a tank imo all for fronts??
id put aro's or a huge CA/SA some pbass some dats just not fronts......

please grow up... :screwy: talking a lot of hot air about pbass and dats doesn't make you a superior aquarist.
just because you are on the Monster Fish Keepers forum doesn't mean you need to take the whole 'Monster' part so literally...

And last, why the heck would they waste a tank that huge on frontosas? I mean, fronts are one of my favorite types of cichlids, but they could have done much better with their stock. They could at least add other fish with the fronts so it wouldn't be a complete waste of a monster tank.:screwy:

sometimes you reach a certain stage in the hobby, and have decided to dedicate your time, effort and money into one species of fish such as they have done in this case this is what happens.
ever heard the saying 'to each their own'?
monster sized tanks doesn't necessarily have to translate into stuffing equally 'monster sized' fish inside there to make it spectacular does it?
the aqua scaping is not going to be to everyone's tastes, but it's functional as opposed to aesthetically pleasing.

You know, they could have just lined up three or four hundred-gallon tanks for the same effect. I also am not a fan, but it was designed for a cichlid colony, and it sure accomplished that. Good for them.
