Hello,

I'm setting up an new aquarium, ~160g. Length 98,5", width 24" and height 16". The tank is made for loaches, but do you have other ideas? I think it is too narrow for rays, and too low for piranhas, so suggest something?

I would add some cryptos: get a group th at will breed

Do you mean Cryptoheros-cichlids? I found only these from local stock list: Cryptoheros sajica, Cryptoheros panamensis

An Africa biotope with bichirs is one chance. From stock list I found these Polypterus:
Polypterus congicus
Polypterus delhezi
Polypterus endlicheri
Polypterus palmas
Polypterus senegalus
Polypterus teugelsi

I have to read more about bichirs and tank mates...

Yea the cichlid. both of those would be good..colorful and won't get too big

Really you could do a lot with that tank. It's essentially a short 240, and most fish won't mind the reduced height. Congo biotope would be cool. What kind of loaches were you thinking? You could to a Kalimantan biotope with clown loaches, spiny eel, barbs, small/medium catfish, etc.

Congo biotope is one possibility. The first plan was a very strong stream/brook with different species of (small) loaches, big rocks and plants like moss. Then I thought, that maybe bigger fishes would be interesting.

I have very powerful filtration in tank now, and fine sand on bottom. I've got many suggestions, like fire eel (too narrow tank?), knife fishes, bala sharks (Balantiocheilos melanopterus, maybe too low tank?), Cetopsis coecutiens -catfishes, Amazon biotope with Red-bellied piranhas and tank stuffed with plants. But it's a hard decision. :D

rainbows would love a long tank like that. bunch of turquoise and red rainbows would make for an active and colorful top half, and add a few dozen cories for personality.

i know that if i had another tank i would love to do something like 3 frontosas and a couple of bichirs i would make the tank mild planted
