most of the larger CA/SA cichlids should be fine with the exceptions of dovii and umbee. a pair of jags may be pushing it because of the males eventual size and the female may need a refuge to get away from him or the use of a divider which doesnt leave much swimming room for either fish.
i would stick with fish no larger than 14" if your intent on large and aggressive but that may be a bit generous because large/aggro cichlids need territory. once you get a chunky 12" fish in there a 5x2.5x2 wont seem so large.
