Leis are only found in the wild in one river system in Queenland where I live. They are stocked in 14 impoundments as sportfish. They are a regulated fish under the Fisheries Act and there is a possession limit of one fish over 50 cm. There is no wild collection permitted, there are over a dozen commercial aquaculture farms which breed them, three of which have export permits and quite a few hobby breeders who breed them.
cheers
Steve.
