1700 Gallon Stingray River

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great tank! Absolutely the state of the art kind of thing in hobbies. I hope it doesn't inspire others to do this again though. Before anyone throws a rock at me..I'm not trying to negative at all here, what I'm saying is that usually mixed tanks do horrible, but yours is an exception, I believe you are a dedicated person who probably spent years of intensive research and really attempted to see if they were compatible. Very, very nicely done!

A side note, do you mind listing all the species in your tank, I didn't read through the later parts, but I would like to know which reptiles, amphibians and fish you combined. Thanks.

Stan, truly a fantastic achievement. You inspired me with your TOTM on RC and new this. All I can say is WOW. I own a tropical fish store in So. CAL and we are moving into a 7200 sq building. I'm contemplating doing a similar type of tank but not in the same scale as yours. Something much smaller. From the pictures, it looks as if you are using T5 lights to illuminate the tank. Is this correct and how many are you using? A truly awesome build.

Thank you for the compliments- The tank is illuminated with T-5 lights. Plants are much less demanding than corals so the T-5's work out great. I have completely redone the tank since I first started it. I have learned a lot as I did with the reef tank. Many of the things I did starting this vivarium out took me a long time to "undo".

Good luck with your move. If you need any advice or pointers on setting up your new system just send me a PM.

Do you have a website for your store?

just saw the previous life of this tank. and dang! its just as nice as this one! i cant imagine how much he spent on the reef tank:WHOA:

That truly is a monstrous tank.....
how do you keep up with the water changes?......

The water changes are set up to do automatic 100 gallons per day. It took me a while to finally get it the way I like it- for now-but it works very well and very simply- which is the best part.

Way to much- This is much cheaper which is my favorite price.

I now have a reason to go to MN.
Dude, this is incredible! You made my dream tank a reality, combining the best of fish, amphibians, and reptiles. And in a flawless manner at that. I'm impressed how you can keep everything fed without them competing too much with each other.
