Use a pair of feeding tongs, grab and hold the stinger and let the ray pull it out by itself

good idea i actually just grabbed it with a tongs and he was scared of it at first and then i started blindly grabbing and knicked it he went running away and then came back to it and before long he was going on top of it knowing what i was doing and waiting for me to pinch it

Congrats. Doesn't look like there were a lot of torn tissue on the stinger. I'm glad you could pull it out, since it look like a good size stinger that was stuck in him. BTW, fish are smarter than we thought

it looked like it was comming and then i think it got pushed back in... it had to go against the barbs so...
