I should have cut the holes before coating! eek! lol, This one is kinda for fun anyway, and if it works that's great too. Seems to be setting well. If I go the epoxy route again I'll get the fast drying stuff. lol

What epoxy did you use? I know you mentioned it but there are just to many pages to search out LOL

Sweetwater epoxy black. Takes up to 72 hrs to completely cure. One week to be fish safe. I'll have to scrub it with ammonia before using it for fish.

oh, and only used about half a gallon to coat it twice. So far the 200 gal has costed me a total of $125 dollars.

Filter concept. Here is some pics of what I see as a possible filter concept. I would build it right into the tank. I made the parts of the filter look like glass so that you could see through them. In actuality they would be sealed wood like the rest of the tank and made right into the walls. As you might guess the back of the filter towards the wall is where the water will flow up and over into the first chamber which will be filled with filter floss. From there it will cascade over into the biochamber full of scrubbies, and some air stones. From there over to the next chamber for pumping back into the tank. Basically with my design it will be a flow through type filter. Anyone see any flaws with this design? I'm no expert when it comes to making home made filters, most of mine are ghetto to say the least, but they always get the job done.

I think it would work. I would personally build it on the other side of the wall though to have more room for the fish, but again at this size of a tank I dont think they would miss/or u have the room to do so.
