18' x 9' x 3.5' catfish tank build in progress.....

I'm going with the poly if they will let me change my order since it hasn't shipped or processed yet. I also ordered some of the woven roving corner tape 6" wide so I can do all the corners and seems. I got 50 yards. I'll make sure to do all the corners first and see what I have left over after that. I also added a topcoat hardener for the gel coat just in case it doesn't want to cure out right. It was cheap so I'll have it just in case.

Is the Top Coat hardener a wax? If that's the case you were right to order it. Most polyester resins come with wax in them already, but it limits the bonding between coats. Without the wax additive, the topmost layer of the polyester will not cure because of the exposure to the moisture in the air. Only way to make it cure without it is to spray on a sealer like PVA or soemthing, let it cure, then wash the PVA off - big PITA.

Thanks, now I just have to find the time to work on it with my new job! lol. It's great, but the hours are hella long! Did 14 hours today.

I'm not sure it's a wax, it just said it was some kind of additive to make the top coat dry faster and harder with a better shine.
