haha the vinyl tubing is for a water level. the tubing is just like what is used for say a python. fill it with water leaving room at both ends and uncapped(except for thumbs when needed to prevent spilling), then no matter what, the water levels at each end of the tube are perfectly level, allowing you to make a series of marks that are level to the curviture of the earth. they're used in cunstruction alot.

To worry about the Curviture of the earth in construction your talking about building a MASSIVE object, and frankly 16' isn't going to be far enough off to worry about 1/10000000 of an inch, but it really is a common practice and also a great way to save a buck or two on a job site since the Good quality Long Levels are $$ And get broken quite oftenMyFishEatYourFish;2265881; said:

Lol, you guys have been doing some major thinking while I was gone to work for the last time. I am trying to get a carpentry apprentice. I am calling to apply for the entrance exam tomorrow. Also looking at dam maintenance operations and schwan's delivery lol. They all pay really good so we'll see what pans out. The schwans is garunteed, and the dam thing doesn't start til next year. As far as level goes I'm not too worried. I've used my small 1' level and my neighbor's 3' level and they read perfect no matter where I sit it, and of course I'm not worried about the curvature of the earth too much. It's being built on a concrete surface so long as it's level with that I'll be fine! I will try to work some on it saturday. Doing some outprocessing of the military tomorrow. There is going to be a delay in buying stuff for this build if I can't find a job right away. My funds are on hold for now, but as soon as I get a job it'll be on again. Til then I'll keep doing what I can with what I have. This weekend I'm working on the final wall and will try to finish plying the outside. Then I'll be at a standstill for a while, but good news is I'll be selling back some leave to the military, and will have enough to complete this and then some after I find a job!

Sad news indeed, necrocanis. I am very sorry to hear about this new develoment. Not being able to keep upright sounds similar to one of the on-going threads about TSN at the moment.
