I was wondering if anyone can give me a good idea of how much a 180 gal acrylic tank (Standard 72x24x24) would cost? I've been shopping around a little, but am not sure what a good price is. The LFS nearby sells it for $599. I know glass tanks are cheaper, but im hesitant to use glass w/ such a large volume of water, as i live in Southern California, - where Earthquakes happen unexpectly.

Any thoughts or opinions will be appreciated! Thanks!

my friend got a 180 gallon with stand and lights for $400.
it was used, but its acrylic so yah.

New "reef ready" brand 180g acrylic on Ebay noe with a "buy it now" price of $795, I found them on line from $725-$950

The main thing I would be concerned about isn't the glass vs acrylic question.
How well attached to the floor/wall do you have the tank!?
The tank needs to be firmly attached so that it won't fall over or off the stand.

Just dont think of things like that :screwy: sorry to mess your thread up just interested

thanks for the info. :) yeah.. i've looked on craigslist but still quite expensive. The used 180's that i've seen have been going for about $700ish. (with the stand of course). Else - the cheaper ones are tend to have cracks or big scratches.

haha as for the glass tanks of that size - im more concerned about the possiblity of it cracking then it falling over. But the falling over part is definately a good point to keep in mind. Just like that scene in Deuce Bigalow - omg.
