About the stocking. So I am actually overstocked since orbit said 4-5? That's funny because I've been searching the forums about stocking and sometimes I see people who have like 15 cichlids in a 180..?

If you are going for the big hitting cichlids that are aggressive plan on about 4-5 of them.

Every single fish has a different personality. It just depends. I have a 150 with about 12 fish right now. They are all about 4-5 inches except for two of them. I will have to get rid of a few to make it work.

Time will tell... If you can get away with more then by god do!! I will!!!LOL

So the only problem i might have is aggresion? It's not like they can't swim confortably?
Well I'll just have to see what happens then cause right now they're about 4-5 inch.

The answer to your last question is definetely 2! Two of us Americans can live comfortably in a 180 gallon tank, but only if they are very imobile people. I know, I have a 180 myself. It's perfect for snuggling!

Get rid of the gibbiceps. They dont do much and for me he would just be a waste of space for the cichlids.
If you wanna get more cichlids, i recommend Parachromis Friedrichtschtalli.

A big tank with 2 or 3 big cichlids like GT,Jag,Jack Dempsy,Dovii and those sort looks cool and then you can get a couple of smaller fish that stay together and a catfish or plec.i personally don't like an americn tank to be over stocked but thats just me maybe you like it.

No I don't like an overstocked tank either, I saw some pictures of tanks with big cichlids that had too much stock and it just looked like a big chaos,, but 2-3? hmm

some americans grow big, others not so big, but the dutch are the lankiest, ugliest inbred looking mf er's i've ever seen, and i ran about 40 of them threw a blender and put them in my 150
